roboDraw

available

Sit for a portrait by a robot, leave with an original.

A guest steps up, roboDraw takes their photograph, and an industrial arm draws them — live, with a felt-tip calligraphy pen, in front of everyone. A custom algorithm turns the image into a single drawn path from the subject’s light and shadow; no two portraits come out alike. The guest watches the machine work, then takes the drawing home.

For the event, it does two jobs at once: the arm drawing is the spectacle — the thing a crowd gathers around and films — and the portrait is the takeaway, a branded artifact that leaves the venue in a guest’s hands and reappears on their feed.

There is exactly one roboDraw. FABB designed the system, wrote the algorithm, and built the machine, and FABB arrives with it and operates it end-to-end: setup, run, teardown. roboDraw takes a guest every five minutes; paper, pen, and sheet branding adapt to the brief.
